This course is designed to improve the reading and writing skills of ESL students. Students receive practice on reading and vocabulary development. Reading practice will emphasize paraphrasing. summarizing, and the simple analysis of texts to identify main ideas and distinguish fact from opion. Witing practice includes writing of simple and compound sentences, using compound tenses and correct word forms, word order, spelling, and punctuation. Students will also develop the ablity to write varied, complex sentences and effective paragraphs in standard written English.
